Hi. My name is Chris. And I'm a bartender.

I have been bartending since 1998, after training at the Minnesota School of Bartending. I also have my Bachelor's in English from the University of Wisconsin. Guess which one pays my rent. In the last decade I have had the pleasure of working in many different types of bars, from country club to comedy club to night club. In 2000, I combined my interest in juggling with my chosen profession and taught myself some really clumsy, poorly-executed flair bartending moves. I even spent $25 on a VHS tape that taught me 8 moves. Shortly after breaking bottles in my living room, I bought my first practice flair bottles and continued teaching myself whatever I could. In 2002, I joined the Flair Bartender's Association. Finally, in 2004, I was fortunate enough to get hired at Kahunaville and had the pleasure of working with some of the best flair bartenders around, including Martin Janica, Danny Rossi, Jeff Rogers, Tiffany Lukasavage, Ben Galaviz, and Rodrigo Cao (all too briefly) as well as many others.

Since then, I have competed internationally (Canada counts!) in a handful of competitions and have placed everything from dead last to first place. All fun and joking aside, I take my craft very seriously and work very hard to be exceptional at what I do. I take special pleasure in being able to share my passion and teach flair bartending to anyone who is interested in learning. Since 2008, I have been teaching, both in person through workshops and weekly classes as well as online via YouTube. Past clients include TGI Fridays and Kahunaville. I have been a judge at flair bartending competitions. I also currently bartend in a nightclub in dowtown Madison, WI, as well as consulting with new bars and training staff. If you are interested in retaining me as a consultant for your bar, for staff training, for menu design, or any other services, please email me at barspecials@gmail.com.

This website is intended to serve as an active resource for anyone looking to learn more about bartending or flair bartending. Whether you've never been in a bar (!), never flipped a bottle, or if you've got a few years under your belt, I hope you find something useful here and share it with others. I hope I can teach you something - I'd love to learn something from you. I am currently filming new tutorials that should be up very shortly. And if support in this site affords me the opportunity, I plan to re-shoot all of my videos in a bar/studio in much higher quality and improve them based on your feedback. If there is anything that you would like to see on this site, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thanks for stopping by ChrisTheBartender.com. I hope I have the pleasure of serving you in my bar someday, and I hope to have the pleasure of sitting at yours.

Cheers,

Chris Myers
